Import and export data

Studio can import CSV, TSV, TXT, and XLSX files up to 5 MB. It can also read a Google Sheet that is shared as Anyone with the link can view.

Prepare a spreadsheet

  • Put column names in the first row.
  • Use one row per game piece.
  • Keep each column to one kind of value.
  • Remove decorative title rows, merged cells, subtotals, and blank columns.
  • Give columns stable names before connecting them to a design.

For images, import values that Studio can recognise, then move important artwork into the project Images library for reliable replacement and usage tracking.

Import a file

  1. Open the target dataset.
  2. Choose Import and select the source.
  3. Review the detected sheet and columns.
  4. Confirm the operation only after checking the target dataset name.
  5. Open every assigned design and preview representative rows.
Replacing dataset content is destructive

Import can replace the current rows and columns. If column or row keys change, existing Designer bindings and previews may stop resolving even when the visible names look familiar. Download a TSV copy first and avoid replacing data while teammates are editing it.

Import a Google Sheet

The sheet must be publicly readable through its link. Do not use this option for confidential or licensed material that should not be publicly shared. Remove public sharing after the import if it is no longer needed.

Export a dataset

Choose Export to download tab-separated data. TSV preserves tabs between columns and works well in common spreadsheet applications.

Dataset export does not include card images, project artwork, designs, or a complete project backup. Use project archive tools for a whole project and the Export workspace for generated game pieces.

Verify the round trip

After any import:

  • Check text with punctuation and line breaks.
  • Check numbers that may have leading zeroes.
  • Check every options value.
  • Check image bindings.
  • Run dataset validation and a small card export.
