Search, filter, replace, and comment

The dataset search field can look across the sheet or narrow the result to a column. Use it to review repeated terms, locate incomplete content, and find commented cells.

Search modes

Search supports plain text and options for:

  • Matching case.
  • Matching the whole value.
  • Regular-expression patterns.
  • Fuzzy matches for near spellings.
  • A particular column.
  • Row colour.
  • Comment state, including cells with unresolved discussion.

Start with plain text. Turn on a specialised mode only when the result is too broad.

Filter what you see

Filters change the visible rows, not the underlying dataset. Clear filters before deciding that a row has disappeared or before doing a sheet-wide review.

Replace carefully

Replace is useful for a terminology change across many cards. Before replacing:

  1. Search and inspect representative matches.
  2. Narrow to the correct column when possible.
  3. Use whole-value or case matching if partial words would be unsafe.
  4. Replace a small set first and review the result.

Undo immediately if the change reaches unintended content. For a large change, download a TSV copy first.

Cell comments

Comments belong to a specific dataset cell. Teammates can create, edit, approve, and delete them. Use comments for a question or decision about that exact value; use a project conversation outside Studio for broad planning.

Approving a comment marks the discussion resolved without changing the cell value. Designer comments are not currently available, so do not expect a comment placed on dataset content to appear on the card canvas.

Comments update in realtime. If the connection drops, wait for reconnection before assuming a newly posted or approved comment was saved.
